Vancouver Island. Our first foray into Canada. Taking the ferry across from Washington across the Straight of Juan de Fuca we had beautiful weather. Behind us the mountains of Olympic National Park just emerging from the clouds, whales off the bow of the boat and the busy city of Victoria coming into view. Vancouver Island has made it to our top 3 of all the places we have visited on our trip. Such a lush island with forests meeting either the sea or a lake at almost all times. We saw Orcas from our tent, hiked to a crashed amphibious bomber, swam in crystal clear lakes and ate fantastic food. The free campsites, friendly people, amazing sights and just incredible weather left us in awe.
